The American economy is continuously going down and it seems that there is nothing people can do to stop it. More and more people are losing their jobs and homes. The country is deep in debt and the gap between the rich and the poor are quickly widening. What can be done to solve this huge problem?
The Secret of Oz is a 200 documentary film that features the hidden symbolism linked to the US economy in the classic film, “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” which was first released in 1939 by MGM.
Written by L. Frank Baum in 1900, this story uses various symbols of monetary reform that the Populist movement and the presidential bid of William Jennings Bryan focused on. The emerald city of Oz represented greenback money, the yellow brick road symbolized the gold standard, and the silver slippers of Dorothy which were changed to ruby slippers in the movie version stood for the Bryan’s and Baum’s belief that silver can help alleviate the American Depression of the 1890s.
As this documentary progresses, valuable information will be shared to help people identify what is causing the current financial problems of the country. This is very important in order to avoid the repeat of the Great Depression. The existing monetary system must be changed and the government must avoid increasing the National Debt even further. Otherwise, the interest will bring the country to its knees.
