Underwater Pyramid Found Near Azores Island Associated With Atlantis, Portuguese Navy Investigating

The lost city of Atlantis may have been found by sailor Diocleciano Smith. Using bathymetry readings, Smith discovered what looked like underwater pyramids which were believed to be part of the underwater city. The pyramid was found near Azores Island and according to Luiz Fagundes Duarte, the Regional Secretary of Education, the location raises the possibility that it was not man-made.

The Portuguese Navy is working with experts to learn more about the pyramid. Various historical accounts about the island of Terceira in the Azores archipelago have conflicting information. This island currently has a population of 56,000 people and is said to be the oldest city of Azores. UNESCO has declared Terceira as a Heritage Site and is widely considered the historical capital of the archipelago.
