The United States have been obsessing over children’s pageants for a long time now. There are a countless number of children’s beauty pageants all over America with a growing pool of mini beauty queens. Now, this phenomenon has made its way to the U.K.
Baby Beauty Queens is a documentary film that tries to see what the entire craze is about. It looks into this world that seems a bit strange and surreal to most people. A unique world where seven year-old girls get fake tans and get their teeth bleached and where nine year-olds wear contact lenses and get hair extensions. It features the first ever Mini Miss UK beauty contest that’s to take place at the leisure centre in Milton Keynes.
The film particularly follows the journey of three mothers as they prepare each of their daughters for this big event. We get to see all the behind the scenes hustle and the bustle that goes into the preparation for a children’s beauty contest.
