Inside Chernobyl

Inside Chernobyl is a documentary film that reveals the current state of the Chernobyl Disaster Zone including its neighbouring city-turned-ghost-town, Pripyat.

Chernobyl is a city in Ukraine that played host to one of the most catastrophic nuclear accidents in the history of the world. It was in 1984 when reactor 4 of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (CNPP) exploded, causing the release of a lethal mass of radiation over a large land area and atmosphere. The disaster was credited to a young senior technician, Leonid Toptunov, who was experimenting with configurations, consequently leading extreme instability of the reactor.

At present times, the numerous buttons and switches of the control panels of the control remain as they were in the day of the incident. The exposure of the reactor’s core caused the release of extremely radioactive smoke towards the atmosphere, prompting the mass evacuation Chernobyl and the neighboring city of Pripyat, unwittingly creating one of the few modern ghost towns in existence.
