The Tribal Eye is a seven-part documentary series by BBC that was originally released in 1975. Presented by Sir David Attenborough, this series takes us into a journey through the intricacies of the world of tribal art. We get to travel to new and interesting places and discover different tribal communities. This series gets to examine an array of different and colorful things; from complicated weavings and sculptures to metal casting. We get to witness and discover the different tribal societies from all around the world and their unique artistic activities.
In “Man Blong Custom”, we journey through the jungles of the New Hebrides. Here, Sir Attenborough takes us through the sacred ceremonies that the villagers perform in their sacred cult house. We then move on to the Solomon Islands where we get to examine the magnificence of their canoes. We also get to witness the natives and their sea spirit dances and look further into the Moro.
