“Light, Darkness, and Colours” is an eye-opening documentary about the world of colors. One of the first-ever studies regarding colors was titled “Light and Refraction”, published in 1704 by Sir Isaac Newton. The report feature Newton’s findings on the link between prisms and sunlight. Newton performed his research in an isolated area in order to come up with objective results. His studies showed that colors only existed in light and he found the set of colors he was searching for.
However, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe performed the same tests that Newton initially performed. And he claimed to have discovered another spectrum that Newton overlooked and he was able to see this in the areas where light and darkness met. He published his version about the nature of colors in 1810. In his report, he detailed how the different views of humans about colors and some of the earliest descriptions of color phenomena. He was able to reach his finding by combining artistic techniques with scientific methods by turning to a collection of meteorological specimens.
