Produced by NOVA-National Geographic Television, “Extreme Ice” is a documentary that reveals the sobering effects of climate change to the planet. The film was directed by Noel Dockstader and released on TV in March 2009.
Photojournalist James Balog guides us through the wonderful yet treacherous terrain of the extreme North. Balog is also a scientist, explorer, and artist who sought to learn more about the negative effects of global warming. Through a series of pictures, Balog features a time-lapse presentation of the disappearance of an icy landscape. This massive creation of nature took thousands of years to form but it took a short number of years for it to melt into the ocean. With the help of this documentary, scientists and experts hope to awaken the public so we can avoid any further disasters.
