Dirt! The Movie

Directed by filmmakers Gene Rosow and Bill Benenson, “Dirt! The Movie” is a 2009 documentary film about the close relationship between man and soil. Society often looks down on dirt and even avoids contact because they don’t want to get dirty. However, this film presents several advantages that soil can bring to man.

Narrated by famous actress Jamie Lee Curtis, the film is an adaptation of the book entitled “Dirt: The Ecstatic Skin of the Earth” written by William Bryant Logan. It was nominated in the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. It also garnered several awards such as the Best in Documentary Award at the 2009 Visions/Voices Environmental Film Festival and the Best Film for Our Future Award at the 2009 Mendocino Film Festival.

The importance of dirt to humans began from the time the components of the universe were formed. Man’s body is also composed of the same materials and every other living organism on Earth. Dirt is also valuable for various other things such as plants, food, shelter, and more.
