First released in 2001, “Coelacanth: The Fish That Time forgot” is centered on one of the rarest species of fish found mostly along the coastlines of the Indian Ocean and Indonesia, the Coelacanth. This type of fish is so rare that they are believed to be endangered species. Experts previously believed the coelacanths became extinct during the later part of the Cretaceous period long before the existence of dinosaurs. However, fishermen rediscovered them off the coast of South Africa in 1938. Because these fishes lack significant changes caused by evolution, coelacanths were dubbed “the living fossil”.
