Triumph of the Nerds: The Rise of Accidental Empires

Can you imagine a world without computers? From transportation to shopping, computers have long been used to process everyday activities we don’t think much about. In a documentary titled “Triumph of the Nerds: The Rise of Accidental Empires”, illustrates how essential computers have become in modern society. The film introduces viewers to the invention of computers in the 70s and the next generation personal computers smackdown between IMB, Apple Macintosh and Microsoft for the most part of the 80s and the 90s.

This three-part film includes interviews of Apple’s main man, Steve Jobs and Microsoft founder and entrepreneur, Bill Gates. Triumph of the Nerds: The Rise of Accidental Empires was first released on PBS in 1996 and was then released in VHS format. Ambrose Video then released the DVD version in 2002 and gained popularity among followers of Amazon.com. Today, the original VHS copies of this film are so rare, collectors pay hundreds of dollars for a copy.
