The Tribal Eye is a seven-part documentary series by BBC that was originally released in 1975. Presented by Sir David Attenborough, this series takes us into a journey through the intricacies of the world of tribal art. We get to travel to new and interesting places and discover different tribal communities. This series gets to examine an array of different and colorful things; from complicated weavings and sculptures to metal casting. We get to witness and discover the different tribal societies from all around the world and their unique artistic activities.
In “The Sweat of The Sun”, we go through the interesting, ancient and rare artefacts of the Aztecs and the Incas. There are only a limited few of these that are left today since majority of them were melted down during the pillaging of the Spaniards. Sir Attenborough gets to take us with him as he examines the few exquisite pieces that remain. We get to learn more about the history of the Incas and the Aztec civilization and way of life through these pieces of tribal art.
