“Poison on the Platter” is a documentary film that was made to spread awareness about genetically modified food products in India. The film, which was directed by respected filmmaker Ajay Kanchan and presented by Mahesh Bhatt, focuses on the way GM crops are involuntarily forced to Indian consumers and farmers and how this type of food can affect the life of people.
Initially, only the small or family-owned farms were concerned about this change. However, GM food is seemingly being forced onto the plates of consumers even if the issue about its safety has not yet been settled. People can no longer easily determine conventional products from GM ones. Moreover, there have been suspicions about large corporations manipulating the studies being performed on GM products to sway things in their favor.
