In the year 2000, respected marine geologist Dr. Robert Ballard went on his third trip to the Black Sea. It was at this time that he and his crew discovered a 1500-year-old Byzantine shipwreck at the bottom of the sea. Eerily, the ship was preserved so perfectly that it seemed to have sunk for just a few days. Unfortunately, his team could only afford to take pictures of the shipwreck as they lacked the tools and the time to explore further.
Fast-forward to 2007, Bob Ballard and his team return to the site to carefully study and excavate the two shipwrecks that they found in the Black Sea. Armed with a technologically advanced robot named Hercules, they are accompanied by National Geographic to document their journey. They have only two weeks to complete their mission, which means they need to act with utmost precision.
