The Furry fandom is an organized group of individuals who are fans of animal characters who are exhibiting human characteristics and personalities who are also anthropomorphic (meaning they contain unrealistic attributes such as human intelligence, the ability to speak, walk on two legs and wear clothing). This fandom was said to have originated in one science fiction convention back in 1980.
From a drawing in Steve Gallacci’s Albedo Anthropomorphics, an entire organization of like-minded fans and enthusiasts was able to emerge. Because of that eventful day, the Furries were able to identify themselves from the rest of the people in that convention and from then on grew in number.
