Ever Thought of Trying Psychedelics? Read This!

In the past, all psychedelic drugs were viewed as negative substances that may cause a range of mental problems. However, recent studies have proven otherwise, and some doctors are even prescribing psychedelic drugs to treat certain diseases. One of the unique qualities of psychedelic drugs is it actually helps a person achieve a deeper sense of self, allowing one to get in touch with his inner being and gain new perspective.

Here are some of the most popular psychedelic drugs:

Dimethyltryptamine (DMT). The mind, body, and spirit of a person can be greatly enhanced by the compound that is contained within plants, mammals, and humans. DMT is discharged into the brain from the pineal gland (where the third eye is developed). This area stimulates dream states of consciousness. DMT is inhaled through vaporization and the effects can last up to 15 minutes creating a feeling of near-death experience and an absolute detachment from the real world.

Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD/LSD-25/Acid). A person who is under the effect of LSD is said to be experiencing LSD intoxication. Its effects can last up to 12 hours or more depending on how strong the body and mind of a person is. LSD and its effects will vary according to the environment and the disposition of the person taking the drug. For instance, there is a greater chance of getting a “bad trip” if LSD was taken in a depressing environment.

Nevertheless, LSD intoxication is known to be the most unpredictable among psychedelics. Chronic LSD users look forward to taking on the unknown and do not care about what happens next. This is why people who are not fond of unpredictability avoid LSD as the drug is known to create visual distortions and hallucinations.

A person can get very confused by the things they see or feel which is why most people using LSD for the first time panic. The drug basically blur the fine line between reality and hallucination.

A person’s way of thinking can be altered while on LSD. The principles, beliefs, and ideas of a person can change either temporarily or permanently because of the acid trip. If the effects are positive, a person can be more empathic to others or get in touch with his inner being.

As for the negative effects, a person could feel that others do not value his existence or that he does not belong in this world. This is very dangerous as it can lead a person to self destruct It is highly suggest that a person high in LSD must be accompanied at all times until the effects wear off.

Psilocybin Mushrooms (Shrooms, or Magic Mushrooms). Often referred to as magic mushrooms, Psilocybin contains potent substances that lead hallucinate. These compounds include tryptamines psilocybin and psilocin. Overdosing on shrooms is almost impossible because as a single mushroom contains only about 0.4% psilocybin. Though shrooms also cause hallucinations, their effects do not last as long as LSD.

Ayahuasca. Ayahuasca is known as the most common and powerful psychedelic drug in South America. Ayahuasca is a large woody vine that is also known to have medical benefits. Often brewed with another plant called Chacruna, the combination of both plants yields a potent tea-like liquid, which when drank, can alter a person’s state of consciousness. Incredibly, Ayahuasca may actually increase the growth of brain cells and reduce depression according to several studies.
