100 Years of Silence

The Herero people are an ethnic group that inhabit various parts of Southern Africa. The majority of their numbers are found in Namibia, with a few of them spread across Angola and Botswana. Almost one hundred years ago, their tribe was almost brought to extinction when a number of German colonial soldiers made an attack that was later to be known as the “first genocide of the 20th century”.

The Herero men and women, young and old, were all rounded up and put into the German concentration camps. After four years, more than half of the entire Herero population died because of these German colonialists.

100 Years of Silence is a documentary film that follows the Herero people as they finally decide to break their silence and speak up. They are now demanding from the German government billions in US dollars to compensate for all the genocide reparations.
