Taking Risks by Understanding Fear

fear1People usually avoid things they are afraid of. Some people are afraid of spiders or certain types of animals. Others are afraid of inanimate objects such as the dark or height, etc. It’s normal to fear something but such fear is just created by the mind. You can eliminate fear if you will your mind to it.

We often believe things because of illusions our mind conjures. Everything seems real for us making something scarier than it really is. Nevertheless, our fears are still false ideas that we create for ourselves. In order to overcome our fears, we need to face them head on. And this covers everything from your irrational fear of cats or your fear of failure. Learn to take risks and do the things you are actually afraid of. Your potential to improve yourself and become more successful grows if you eliminate fear from your heart and mind.

Of course, this is easier said than done. Most people are afraid of trying out new things because they do not know how things will turn out if they do. People do not want to be rejected or laughed at for failing at something. The fear of regret and guilt can also keep a person from taking risks. This often applies to those who lack self-confidence and do not have the desire to improve by facing their problems.

This fear of the unknown can be very detrimental to the success of a person. People are afraid of getting into trouble or losing the things or people in their lives if they take risks. Nevertheless, we should know and accept that the events of life is filled with the unknown. And if we do not take risks, we will not be able to live life to the fullest. We will miss out on the opportunities to become better versions of ourselves simply because we limit ourselves to the confines our fear created.

Fear is also the primary reason why people fail to do the right thing. People are afraid of the repercussions of their decision even if they do what is right. The fact is, every single day of our life is already filled with risks. It does not matter how simple or complicated our task is, everything we do is will come with risks. When we love, we risk not being loved back. Trying new things risks failure and hope can result in despair.

You can only enjoy life by taking risks. There is a difference between living by breathing and being alive by experiencing new things. A person who avoids taking risks is doing nothing. Even if he is able to avoid pain and sadness, he is also avoiding the opportunity to learn and feel something new. He will not be able to change into a better person and there will be no improvement in his life.

On the other hand, when a person takes on his fears he gives himself the chance to change and grow. He allows himself to unlock his hidden potentials and explore boundless possibilities. This will require a lot of time and effort requiring knowledge and skills to improve his life.

The best way to push yourself when you are afraid of taking risks is to visualize a successful solution to your problem. Imagine yourself not only taking the risk but also succeeding in finding a solution to the problem. Keep this image in your mind until you are brave enough to take the risk and opening doors that will lead to the unknown.
