Overcoming Your Fears

f1We all have our own personal fears. Some are afraid of heights, others are afraid of commitments. But there is one fear that seems to be shared by most people, the fear of failure.

Most people avoid doing something new or things that they are not used to because they are afraid of what might happen next. This is why people often stick to their well-established routines, being content with what they have rather than looking what’s out there. Unfortunately this could lead to missed opportunities and the inability to achieve their fullest potentials. Moreover, fear will also keep a person from fully understanding and enjoying life.

The fact is, fear is nothing but an illusion. It is nothing but a set of beliefs that you create and store in your mind. These are thoughts and imaginations that you believe are true even if there is no proof that they are real. Your fears may actually be things that other people enjoy and feel excited about.

The good news is, you can control your fears. It’s just a matter of knowing how. Here are tips on how you can overcome your fears:

Death is an Inevitable Truth for Everybody

Most people fear death but it’s an inevitability. Every living creature will die eventually. Humans are only expected to live 70 to 80 years. Death is an event that will happen to all of us so there is no need to be afraid of it.

Because time is not on our side when it comes to death, it’s important to make every second count. Do not leave any stone unturned and discover as much as you can. We should grab every opportunity that comes by and not allow our fears to take over our lives.

Instead of fearing death, use it as your motivation to live your life according to your desires. This will allow you to go after the things that can make you happy helping you to forget about your fears. Stop holding on to what you have in this life and look forward to the things you can achieve until you die.


Do Not Settle for What You Have

Do not settle for a mediocre life just like most people. Remove the fear of losing something if you try to shoot for something higher. Living within your comfort zone will not amount to something if you want to prompt positive changes in your life.

Instead of losing out on opportunities because you want to be “safe”, be brave enough to go after your dreams. Take on your fears and work your way towards the achievement of your goals in order to enjoy a better life. Fulfill all your desires and you will be able to tell yourself that you are truly living and not just alive.

Turn Your Critics into Motivators

Sometimes the people closest to us may say things that are mean when they want us to motivate us to do something. For example, at your annual family event, an aunt might blurt out how much weight you’ve gained when what she wanted was to make you lose weight. But don’t let other’s opinions get the best of you. Take the high road but use their words as motivation. Prove them wrong and be a better person.
