We all have our comfort zones. This imaginary boundary that we set for ourselves to distinguish the things that we think we can do from the things that we can’t. But then you’ll never really find out if you can or can’t do something unless you actually try to do it. And eventually as life goes on, the things you achieve within your comfort one would no longer be enough to really allow you to grow and reach your full potential.
Try to picture yourself living in an island, for example. Everything you’ve ever needed has been right there; readily available for you any time you need it. But then there comes a point when you start having needs that can’t be found in your comfortable little island. The only place that you can get it is at the next island, which would require you to ride a scary looking little row-boat to get there. So what are you going to do? Are you going to ignore your need just because of your fear of venturing into the unknown?
You see from that example how things would turn out if you continue to hide inside your little box of comfort. Sooner or later, opportunities would come your way that would require you to take a leap of faith and make certain risks. When that time comes, you should be ready and willing to get out of your comfort zone and grab these opportunities.
Greatness and the possibility of a brighter tomorrow awaits you. But you will never be able to live out and actually grab this greatness if you let your fears and doubts get the better of you. Keep in mind that opportunities wait for no one. You can only turn down so much opportunities and chances before they stop coming.
Taking risks is all part of the human experience. Check the life stories of every successful person, all of their stories include a moment or two (or three) of taking scary risks. Some of them were even practically gambling, putting more than money and reputation at stake. But then look at them now? They were able to reap the many good things and have achieved more success than they’ve ever imagined. And all of that was brought about by a simple leap of faith.
Getting out of your comfort zone and taking risks allow you to grow. Its decisions like these that help mold and shape you to become a better person. Aside from the success and the achievement that you would be able to have once you take a chance, ultimately it’s the experiences and the lessons that you pick up on your journey that you would appreciate and benefit from for these are things that no sum of money can buy.
So how about you, how long are you going to set aside the success and the glory that awaits you? Are you going to wait until it’s too late before you make your move?
