This short video features Agnes Baker-Pilgrim or Grandma Aggie’s inspiring words. Grandma Aggie is a descendant of political and spiritual tribal leaders of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz. She does her best to keep tradition going even today, including the Sacred Salmon Ceremony which she re-introduced to her homeland in the Rogue River Valley after 140 years.
Grandma Aggie is now considered a “living treasure” by her tribe and a “living cultural legend” by the Oregon Council of the Arts. She is popular for being a strong and outspoken representative of her tribe. Her ability to compel people to listen made her one of the most beloved icons in the world. She considers herself as an Ambassador for Mother Nature and promotes spiritual clarity reminding everyone that we are all people of the planet Earth.
